Rope-making list

Funem Habes? Got Rope?

Useful Links

This page contains an annotated list of sites which we have found useful. They include sources of hemp, guilds and organizations relating to rope-making, knots or other related fields. The list is small but will grow as we get time.

Beaded Toucan http://www.btoucan.com/
A good source for hemp twine and other 'strings'. We have always had good service and good prices from them and have dealt with them for near two years now. The hemp comes from Hungary and is good quality. In addition to natural hemp they carry dyed varieties as well.
International Guild of Knot Tyers - North American Branch http://www.igktnab.org/
Probably known by most rope makers, this guild is dedicated to the art of knot tying, both practical and theoretical.
Ropemakers Bible in the Making http://www.wctatel.net/web/equityrealty/ropeINDEX.html
The Story of home made - hand made rope
Ropemaking e-list http://www.egroups.com/group/ropemaking
Started in September of 2000, this list is designed to allow anyone who has an interest in the art of rope making a place to discuss any aspect of the craft with like-minded individuals from all over the world. Features include a calendar for posting events, a list of links and databases of ropewalks and rope making terminology as well as contact information for rope makers worldwide.
